Unfortunately, due to my misunderstanding of an email from our office which I had previously received, it would appear that I have given out some incorrect information regarding our switch terms, and I feel it’s very important that I put this right.
As you can see, the medical question below asks whether you have been receiving treatment in the last two years (below). We then define treatment to include check-ups, medication, appointments with a specialist etc so basically anything you have had to manage a condition in the last two years prompts you to make a declaration. We can then make an assessment on the risk.
In the case of cancer, we apply exclusions which vary in length depending on the type of cancer. The time line starts from when the surgery took place so this is often beneficial relative to other insurers.
For example, in the case of breast cancer it’s a ten year exclusion so if a person was treated five and a half years ago this would attract an exclusion for four and a half years. We don’t mind that they continue to take medication or have check-ups, the exclusion would last for four and a half years (in this example).
Unfortunately I believe I told some people at the event that cancer exclusions only apply for two years in ALL cases, and this was incorrect and could therefore be misleading.
Please accept my sincerest apologies for this error on my part. As a BDM I believe that giving accurate product information is obviously of the highest importance, but I also feel that the ability to acknowledge my mistakes and put things right is a vital feature of what I do. I therefore hope you can forgive me this misunderstanding and will continue to look at National Friendly as a viable option where applicable.
Should you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks and kindest regards
