‘Sign your mortgage deed’
The digital service is available to eligible remortgage customers only, who can sign their mortgage deed whenever and wherever they are.
It removes the need for a ‘wet’ signature and witnesses to be present when the documents are signed, making it quicker and more straightforward as follows:
The customer needs to sign in to their GOV.UK Verify account, if they already have one (for example if they’ve recently updated their passport or driving licence) or create one if they don’t.
When they’re signed in, they’ll be able to confirm their identity and then digitally sign their deed online.
Customers will need to talk to their conveyancer to see if they’re eligible for this new service. If they aren’t, they’ll need to sign the paper mortgage deed instead.
