More support for your clients if they lose a loved one…

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve added a new discretionary benefit called Bereavement Benefit for both new and existing insured members at no extra cost.

The launch of our Bereavement Benefit comes one month after significant changes were made to the state benefits available for bereaved individuals and families which means 75% of newly widowed parents may be worse off*.

In light of these recent changes, our new Bereavement Benefit provides your clients with additional financial support if they lose a partner/spouse or child. The benefit includes a lump sum equal to 13 times the policyholder’s weekly Income Protection benefit (minimum payout of £1,000) and could be used to supplement funeral costs or living expenses while your clients take the time they need to recover from their loss.

This benefit also forms part of our Mutual Benefits programme which we launched in February this year. As part of Mutual Benefits, your clients also have access to grief counselling services through our Mutual Support partner, Square Health, which provide even more support if they’ve experienced a bereavement.

Your clients could have a range of healthcare services at their fingertips…

In April, we were the first Income Protection provider to launch a range of Square Health services on a mobile app as part of our discretionary Mutual Benefits programme.

Through Mutual Benefits, British Friendly members are given 100 Health Support Points to use on the services of their choice each year which they can use whether they’re claiming or not.

Services include:

  • Virtual GP consultations (25 Health Support Points)
  • Physiotherapy (33 Health Support Points)
  • Counselling (33 Health Support Points)
  • 2nd opinion services (100 Health Support Points)

Our new Mutual Support mobile app makes accessing these services even more convenient for your clients allowing them to book appointments 24/7, track their Health Support Points, access additional services and better monitor their health.

The app is available for IOS and Android devices and can be downloaded via the appropriate app store.

We hope your clients will find it even easier to access these valuable healthcare services through this new app.
