At Bupa, we’re continually working towards being number one for mental health. Your clients care about their people’s overall wellbeing – inside and outside of work. We know that mental health issues at home can have a negative impact at work and vice versa. That’s why we want to support them in every way we can.
Mental health issues can affect the whole family, even the younger members. We know that many of your clients’ employees are parents or carers, so we’re launching our Bupa Family Mental HealthLine, a helpline of trained advisers and mental health nurses ready to support parents and carers with whatever the young person might be facing.
A third (32 per cent) of parents of children between the ages of 4 and 17 said their child had been affected by a mental health issue in the last year [1]
Almost a third (29%) would keep their child’s diagnosis a secret from their employer.[2]
Strengthening our commitment with support for all parents and carers
The Family Mental HealthLine will be available to all employees with health insurance cover from January 2nd 2020.
All individuals covered will have access to the Bupa Family Mental HealthLine as part of their health insurance scheme, even if they don’t have Bupa cover for their children, they can access this service for the support they need.
The HealthLine provides:
- Telephone support
- Available between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday via a dedicated helpline
- A team of trained advisors and mental health nurses
- To listen, provide advice, guidance and support
- Signposting
