Random thought of the month:
Do you know why pigs in blankets are eaten at Christmas? Well, there are no specific known origins of pigs in blankets becoming a traditional part of the British Christmas dinner, but the first written record of the product in general goes back to 1957, that said it’s an absolute favourite in the Wilson household.
So, here’s a tip: How do you make pigs in a blanket not soggy?
To prevent soggy pigs in a blanket: Pat the hot dog or sausage with a paper towel prior to wrapping in the dough to decrease the amount of moisture you add in.

Are we missing a trick, by not selling Health Cash Plans?
Health cash plans are a lesser known but incredibly valuable insurance option. They operate differently from standard private medical insurance by offering cash payouts for various healthcare expenses. These plans cover a range of services, including dental care, optical treatments, physiotherapy and many more.
The primary reason advisers should promote health cash plans is because of their ability to complement existing private medical insurance cover. Many individuals already have health insurance through their employers or personal policies. However, not all plans offer other essential services such as dental check-ups, eye examinations or alternative therapies. Many of the dental surgeries within the UK are having to go private, due to the NHS not having the budget for funding. To avoid clients from facing these expensive costs, speak to them about taking out an affordable health cash plan.
By incorporating a health cash plan into their portfolio, clients can address the gaps left by private medical insurance plans. It is about creating a comprehensive safety net that covers a broader spectrum of healthcare needs, minimising out of pocket expenses for services not covered on their standard private medical insurance policy.
We have a wide range of health cash plan providers on our panel, take this opportunity to revisit those clients who do not have dental or optical cover built into their plan and see if you can provide them with a quote. Ask them the question on whether their dentist practice is private and how much they charge for routine check-ups.
We have lined up some cash plan providers for 2024’s coffee morning sessions. If you are not currently selling health cash plans and it is something you want to do, then build it into your 2024 Business Plans and let us work towards increasing our business revenue and filling in those protection gaps.
Before I sign off from 2023, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I look forward to 2024’s catch ups, training, and PMI coffee morning sessions, brewing and fully caffeinated.
