Axa Extra Home Insurance

We are delighted to advise that April has seen the launch of an enhanced AXA Extra home insurance policy.

As one of a number of leading insurers on our panel, AXA’s range of flagship home insurance products have been part of our home insurance panel for many years.  In response to changing customer demands AXA recently announced some key enhancements to its Extra policy, including:

Increasing contents sum insured to £100,000 (up from original £75,000)

Inclusion of cover for niche items such as artificial lawns and air and ground heat source pumps

Emergency accommodation cover

The updated AXA Extra, which is a 5 star rated product by defaqto, also includes buildings cover up to £1 million, public liability cover up to £2 million, trace and access protection, business equipment cover, and generous total limits for valuables and personal possessions, is available to intermediaries via our Quote and Buy platform and also automatically included for all existing Axa Extra policies as they fall due for renewal from 1st April 2022 onwards.

Mark Hutchings, Managing Director at Berkeley Alexander commented: “Our broad buildings and contents panel offers advisers a wide range of products and types of cover including premium and speciality options.  We are privileged to have had a long and successful partnership with AXA whose products have been a mainstay of our panel for many years.  Its Extra policy now offers enhanced cover, keeping its protection relevant and comprehensive for today’s needs.”

You said, we did

In early January we issued our first ever broker survey and it was brilliant so many of you took the time to reply.

One of the key areas of feedback was around accessibility to our team via our telephony system and some of the challenges you had encountered. As such, we are pleased to say we have listened to your comments and recently updated our service provider with initial feedback being very positive.

Our 2nd quarterly survey will hit your inbox in May 2022 and it would be great to hear how the new system is performing.

Homes for Ukraine

Whatever your politics, we must all have been touched and saddened by what is happening in Ukraine. In response to the Government’s “Homes for Ukraine” scheme, UK home insurers, led by an industry wide guidance from the ABI (to view this, click here), have been reacting to the situation with updates on the potential impact to home insurance policies should a policyholder wish to open their home to a refugee.

Some insurers are going further than the ABI guidance and we have therefore collated the responses we have received from our main home insurance panel. If you have a client who wishes to participate in the scheme and needs to know the impact on their policy cover, click here for details.

Change of legal entity name

Berkeley Alexander is proud to be part of Ardonagh Advisory – the broking and advisory platform of The Ardonagh Group.

Ardonagh are making some changes to the legal entity structure to better reflect the family of brands and nature of our business. As a result, we are pleased to confirm that the legal entity name, “Towergate Underwriting Group Limited”, has changed to “Advisory Insurance Brokers Limited”.

What this means for you and your clients

This is a change in name only – Berkeley Alexander will continue to trade in the same way as it always has done and your current contacts remain the same.

This is purely a change of legal entity name from “Towergate Underwriting Group Limited T/As Berkeley Alexander” (also referred to as “TUGL T/As Berkeley Alexander”) to “Advisory Insurance Brokers Limited T/As Berkeley Alexander” (also referred to as “AIBL T/As Berkeley Alexander”.

This change applies with immediate effect and our bank account has already been updated, so any client making a BACS payment for their premium will notice the change of bank account name from “TUGL T/As Berkeley Alexander Client NST” to “AIBL T/As Berkeley Alexander Client NST”. However, the bank account number and sort code are unchanged.

There is no impact on customers paying by card or monthly via Premium Credit. Our e-mail footers, web site and suite of letters are being updated to reflect the new entity name.

There is no change to the formal legal entity or company registration number, which remains 4043759, and our registered address continues to be 2 Minster Court, Mincing Lane, London, EC3R 7PD.

We remain authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under our firm reference number 313250. Further regulatory details can be found on the Financial Services Register under our firm reference. There is no need for a new agency Terms & Conditions (Ts & Cs) to be agreed as this is purely a change of name of the legal entity, not a change of company registration number.
