A new campaign is being launched by Good Morning Britain to give all secondary school students the opportunity to learn CPR. The Heels 4Hearts campaign, run in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation, requests people to donate their shoes and boots to their local British Heart Foundation store.

It is estimated that it will take 175 pairs of shoes to pay for just one full CPR training kit for a secondary school or Sixth Form. So far the scheme has been gathering pace on Twitter with the hash tag #Heels4Hearts, with a number of celebrities getting involved and donating their own shoes. On the British Heart Foundation’s EBay, you can now purchase the shoes of Tom Jones, Dame Helen Mirren or the football boots of Jack Wilshere to name a few.

This campaign offers a great opportunity to bring up the importance of Life and Critical Illness cover with your client. Every year, more than 30,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, showing the importance not only of people learning CPR, but of people protecting themselves against that risk. It is estimated that cardiovascular disease is the cause of a quarter of all deaths in the UK, with 7 million people estimated to be currently living with CVD.[2]

Discuss this campaign with your clients as not only can you promote a great cause, but you can also help your client to get the cover that they need.
