Recent statistics from the ONS show that average life expectancy is increasing, to 79.3 years for males and 83 years for females. Plus the number of households over the age of 65 is forecast to increase massively by 60% in the next twenty years.
So in recognition of this, we’re pleased to announce that from 14 March 2016 all our Term products can now offer cover up to age 90 for mortgage, family (excluding Family and Personal Income Plan) or business protection.
Enhanced Terminal Illness Cover
Our Terminal Illness Cover has just got better too, as your clients can now claim following diagnosis at ANY time, during the length of their policy.
This is because we’ve removed the claim exclusion in the last 12 months of the policy for terminal illness, so we can now pay even more claims. This improvement applies to all our products that include terminal illness.
To find out more, please visit our Term or Terminal Illness pages on the Adviser Centre.
Changes to Lifestyle Cover
Following a recent review of our Lifestyle Cover product, we’ve made some changes to our policy wording. These changes are designed to ensure our policy terms remain clear for your clients and help them understand exactly what is and isn’t covered should they need to make a claim.
These changes came into effect for new business on 16th March 2016 and for customers renewing from 10 April 2016.
Updated Lifestyle Cover Policy Booklets and Policy Summaries along with updated sales support materials are available to order via our online literature ordering system.
What’s changing?
We’ve made some changes around short term working hours, self-employment and temporary work under Unemployment Cover. Under Accident & Sickness Cover, we’ve added a new exclusion and revised our wording around mental health.
