It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, a day that Mums will be celebrating throughout the country. We all know that lots of Mums work hard in careers outside the home to support their families. However there are also the many other household and family-related tasks that she does, such as shopping, cleaning, cooking and childcare that can be taken for granted.
Mums are priceless yet the value of the unpaid domestic work they do is worth thousands every year.
Our latest Value of a Parent research seeks to highlight the cost of replacing the work that mums or parents do in the home, and what it might cost to get help if they were no longer able to do these tasks – frequently overlooked when families are working out their insurance needs.
In fact our 2015 research found that the average insurance value of the unpaid work mums contribute to the home is £29,535 a year. For a dad, it’s £21,601.
We’ve developed a calculator to help your clients work out the value of the unpaid work they do around the home. This figure could be used to demonstrate your clients need for family insurance, or to increase their current insurance cover.
