On 1st January 2020, we issued new policy wordings and application forms for you to use.
Some of the changes made to the policy wording caused a number of questions, so for clarity we have made the following additional changes:
Exclusion 26 has now been changed from:
Professional sports (Any sport for which you receive payment to participate in). Participation in the following sports whether on a professional or amateur basis:
– Motor sports of any kind.
– Using a weapon or firearm.
– Scuba or free diving, unless:
– you are diving to a depth of less than 30 metres; and
– you hold the appropriate PADI qualification or you are accompanied by a PADI qualified instructor.
– Off-piste winter sports.
– Racing of any kind, other than on foot.
– Contact sports, including but not limited to rugby, wrestling and boxing.
– Horseback activities, including but not limited to, horse racing, horse riding and show jumping.
to:
Claims arising from racing, other than on foot, and all professional sports (By professional, we mean sports for which you and/or your covered dependants are paid to take part).
However, we reserve the right to load for or exclude hazardous activities that must be disclosed on the application form.
________________________________________
What this means is that there is no longer a definition for excluded sports, apart from racing and all professional sports.
If your clients do any other kind of sports or hazardous activities such as horse jumping or mountaineering, etc. these now need to be declared under Section 2 on the application forms and we will advise if we can cover those activities.
The new policy documents will be uploaded to your portal over the next few days and attached are the revised application forms with the additional question added.
