National Conversation Week helps advisers navigate new consumer mindset around the home

National Conversation Week is back, and this time from 7th – 13th June, Paymentshield are joining forces with Defaqto and other leading organisations from the financial services, legal and property sectors to spark dialogue about how Covid-19 has transformed the nation’s relationship to the home.

A YouGov survey recently commissioned by Paymentshield found that more than half of UK adults are now looking to make premium purchases, develop or use their home in some way over the next 10 years to suit their new way of living since Covid-19.

National Conversation Week 2021 will encourage discussion around UK consumers’ renewed appreciation of the home, with Paymentshield exploring what this new mentality means for advisers and their businesses and offering support for client conversations about their GI needs.

During the week, advisers will have access to a range of resources from Paymentshield, including new tools to support their client conversations and the sharing of expert insights from collaborators such as Slater Heelis and CPP Group UK, who will offer their thoughts on how to meet these novel customer needs.

Jennifer Ripley, Head of Marketing at Paymentshield, comments:

“Staying home has had a serious effect on people’s savings power, and it looks like the home is set to become the main beneficiary. In 2020, UK households saved an average of £300 on day-to-day expenses during lockdown and by and large, this money is being reinvested back into the home – from substantial home improvements and landscaping to the purchase of big-ticket items such as home gyms and entertainment centres.

“There’s a clear opportunity for advisers here at both new business and renewal to talk to clients about the benefits of quality home insurance. Advisers should be proactively approaching new clients and existing clients to offer a GI review to check their current policies are still fit for purpose.
