Looking back to a previous CuraVision – The ABCs video, Kathryn talks about Edward*, who came to Cura to look for protection for his mortgage of £142,000, over 33 years and for his income.

Edward was a 28-year-old non-smoker, with a BMI in the normal range, he was diagnosed with grand mal epilepsy 10 years ago (more commonly now known as tonic-clonic seizures), and he was taking medication to control the condition.

Identifying a need for him to have life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection, Kathryn discusses the different insurances that we were able to arrange for Edward.

We hope that some of you will have heard the pilot episode of The Practical Protection Podcast, if not please find the link is below.

Our first full episode will be live in the first week of February and Kathryn and Andrew will be chatting about Epilepsy. Kathryn will be talking about clients that Cura has advised and their experiences, what it is like to be an adviser looking to arrange insurance for them, and Andrew will be discussing how insurers view the risks of epilepsy. The episodes are going to come out every 2 weeks.

Andrew Wibberley, MD of Alea Risk (insurance underwriting, product and process expert) joins Kathryn Knowles, MD of Cura (specialist insurance adviser, communications and compliance) for a clear and open chat about how each side of the protection insurance world views things.

Andrew brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to discuss how the insurance sector is moving forward, improving accessibility and explaining why these “risks” are seen as risks by insurers.

Kathryn brings her experience as a “quirky” life and the voice of the consumer to the discussion. She does this alongside her experience as a specialist adviser, who is known for insuring the uninsurable.
