How Vitality helped their members during the COVID-19 pandemic – the statistics
The pandemic has had a huge impact on people’s lives and our latest claims and benefit figures demonstrate how we’ve supported our members and their families throughout an incredibly challenging year.
COVID-19 Vitality statistics
We paid over £4m in COVID-19 related claims in 2020
- £4,070,000 paid in total across Life Cover and Serious Illness Cover
- 9% of our Life Cover claims were for COVID-19
The majority of COVID-19 Life Cover claims were in our eldest members and were most common in men
- 68% of COVID-19 Life Cover claims were for men a significant number given men only represent approximately 53% of our members
- 24% of COVID-19 related claims were for members aged below 60, highlighting the importance of Life Cover for younger clients
COVID-19 affected a diverse range of our members, across different ages and genders, highlighting the importance of having a comprehensive protection plan in place. Almost a quarter of claims were from those under the age of 60.
Despite the diversity of claims, there were still a number of key trends that could be seen from our statistics.
