The growing societal issues surrounding later life care is still very much in the press and on the government’s agenda. With people living longer, later life conditions are becoming more prevalent and the need for care is growing. Latest statistics show that 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 has dementia, and by 2051 it’s estimated there will be over 2 million sufferers in the UK.

As later life conditions grow in number as our population ages, so to has the need for care. Currently, 78% of older people in the UK receive care from a spouse or other household member, and there are 6.5 million people in the UK are caring for family and other loved ones.
