Vitality has made some underwriting changes and I would draw your attention to the FAQs on our website https://adviser.vitality.co.uk/coronavirus-update/coronavirus-faqs/ for the full update. An adviser focussed email will be issued in due course.

The key changes can be summarised as follows:

  • If an applicant has symptoms of COVID-19, is awaiting the results of a test for COVID-19, or has tested positive to a COVID-19 test, we would expect this to be disclosed in the application. In this circumstance, we would postpone the application.
  • Applications that require screening due to medical disclosure will be postponed or a GPR requested. It is anticipated that there will be increased difficulty in obtaining GP reports at the current time.
  • All applicants whose age at application is 65 or above will now be referred to underwriting.
  • We are still accepting Income Protection applications but only for deferred periods of three months or longer.
  • The full earnings guarantee will be removed from all new Income Protection policies applied for with VitalityLife from 27 March. Existing policyholders will continue to be able to benefit from this feature.
  • We have suspended our Vitality Nurse service at this time.

There are no changes to any of our existing policies and we will pay out all valid claims for conditions covered under our existing plans. We will also be shortly announcing ways in which clients can benefit from additional partners and rewards.
