Protection Update 19th November 2021
Protection Update 19th November
Hi everyone and welcome to this week’s protection update.
Now I’m actually recording this update on Thursday 18th November and you’re going to hear it from Friday 19th.
If you were ever wondering about how I put this together, pull up a chair, and I’ll tell you.
At the start of every week, and at the back of my mind, I’m always on the lookout for something to talk about in terms of protection. So, there might be something new in terms of a new product, feature or benefit.
There could be an interesting article or something that was posted on social media. It might be something we’re doing here within the network.
Or it could be anything else which I think might help and inspire you to advise and recommend protection to your clients.
But the way my brain works is that I have to write things down or I forget them… so I write my notes. Just bullet points really and then ideally, I want to have the outline for what I want to talk about by about Wednesday afternoon. That’s when I like to record this then get the MP3 and the transcript over to our wonderful marketing team Katey and Danielle, who get the protection update packaged together and out there to you by about 2pm on a Friday.
Well, that’s the plan anyway.
So I’m recording this one a bit late. It’s Thursday evening and I’ve just returned from Birmingham.
If you joined me at any of this fortnight’s roadshows (we did Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Manchester and then Birmingham today, or yesterday if you’re listening to this on friday); you might remember me saying that this whole ‘podcast’ idea was born out of frustration really because when I first started this job back in April; we weren’t allowed to do anything face to face.
We couldn’t do live events and as a consequence, I felt like I was working with my arms tied behind my back.
Plus, I know you get a lot of emails and communications. It takes time to stop what you’re doing and read something… so hopefully these updates have lightened the burden because you can just press play and listen to the podcast if that’s what you prefer.
So, we’ve just finished a fortnight of Regional Roadshows.
It was so good to see all of you who attended. Definitely long overdue.
Ian Davis down in Merthyr Tydfil – great to see you again after a good few years. Richard, Kinga and the team at Bespoke!
All the team at Multi Broker – Naprawdę dobrze widjzieć was tu manchesterże …do zobaczenia!
And in Birmingham – that was the best attended event with a packed-out room. Thanks for coming along everyone and obviously, great to see you all.
Now during my presentation at the Birmingham Roadshow, I was passed a note, mid presentation by an adviser at the front. It kind of threw me, but not too much. That adviser was Chris Brown from Regal.
Now I must admit, receiving the note, mid presentation did throw me slightly. But I opened it, during the live presentation, but I’m embarrassed to say I couldn’t read it properly because I didn’t have my reading glasses so I had to put it down.
But Id did catch up with Chris afterwards for a quick chat and to apologize for why I wasn’t able to read his note to the audience.
What Chris was sharing with me was piece of text he had written on the wall of his office for many years.
It said “It’s my job to talk to you about protection… Not to talk to your family about why you didn’t have any”. All his clients were able to read that as soon as they walked in.
Let me read that again…
“It’s my job to talk to you about protection… Not to talk to your family about why you didn’t have any”
Well said Chris!
So, I think we managed to see over 200 of you across the 5 regional roadshows.
We’re going to be back again in January and I’ll be able to give you the dates very shortly!
NTE Next Thursday – Have you Registered – Do it now if not!
Now one thing we’ve been plugging recently is our NTE and this is your final call to action. The National Training Event which is our biggest event of the year.
It’s virtual / online – and we do have a really good lineup next Thursday. But you do have to register or you won’t be able to join.
I’ve added the link to this weeks protection update so just press that button.
What we’re doing a little bit differently this time around is splitting the conference in half to give you a break in the middle. In that time, we’ve got some really good virtual provider stands and that’s your opportunity to go and take a look at them.
So under normal circumstances when your walking around the exhibition hall and you’ve filled your bag with pens and goodies… you would naturally have a chat with the providers.
Well we’ve created a pretty cool exhibition zone with lots of good content for you to take a look at.
Now from a protection point of view I’ve asked all the providers to give me a short video which has 3 reasons you need to consider them.
We’ve embedded everything onto a single page so you can just take a look at all our sponsors and perhaps tell me which provider video you thought was the best?
So that’s it from me for another week.
I’m going to try and pin Bob Scott down for a proper roundup of our regional roadshows and see if we can get that to after the NTE next week.
Have a great weekend everyone!
