The Exeter has released its income protection claims statistics for 2017. During the year, the mutual protection specialist paid 91% of all claims received.
In all, the Exeter-based provider paid out over £6 million in income protection claims – equivalent to over £16,000 paid every day.
The most common reason for claim was musculoskeletal conditions (excluding back), which accounted for 33% of claims followed by fractures and broken bones, at 13%.
The Exeter also released the first video of a series called ‘LifeStories’, which highlights the importance of protection and health insurance, as told by claimants themselves.
LifeStories is designed for advisers to use with their clients. In this video, Adam talks about how income protection helped him through difficult times following a serious car accident.
