AXA Health is introducing a nutrition coaching service for members of its healthcare plans who are undergoing cancer treatment.
Designed and delivered by AXA Health’s in-house team of clinical experts and health coaches,* the six-month nutrition coaching programme gives extra support to cancer patients experiencing issues such as weight loss or loss of appetite to help them feel more like themselves.
The programme includes personalised nutrition advice and guidance provided by AXA Health coaches by phone and through the My Coach app. For details of the service, see the appendix ‘How nutrition coaching works’ below.
AXA Health Head of Clinical Services, Dr Katrina Herren, said
“Poor nutrition can adversely affect patients’ response to cancer treatment, resistance to infection and speed of recovery. That’s why we’ve introduced this nutrition coaching programme – to help members affected by cancer follow a healthy, balanced diet. And give them back a sense of control at what can be such a difficult time.”
Individual & SME members of AXA Health private healthcare plans that include cancer cover can access the programme through AXA Health’s Cancer Care team. The six-month programme is costed at £600 per person. There are two invoices to allow for drop-off of members who decide not to continue past three months. The first three months, which include the set-up, licence costs and the first three months of coaching, cost £360. The second three months cost £240.
Using the service has no impact on members’ outpatient benefit limits. However, excesses apply, and no claims discounts are impacted on plans that have them.
