The Autumn Budget & Beyond
October has brought some exciting developments, particularly for first-time buyers, with the announcement of the proposed Your First Home scheme.
The scheme aims to help first-time buyers purchase a new-build property with just a 2.5% deposit, supported by a government-backed equity loan. A fantastic opportunity for first-time buyers, and we’re hopeful this will help drive more purchase cases across the market in 2027.
Our Mortgage Development Manager, Robyn James, recently filmed a podcast with Steve Hewitt from Aldermore, exploring how the mortgage market has evolved throughout 2026 and why specialist lending is increasingly becoming the new normal. With more customers falling outside traditional high-street criteria, brokers are needing to become more comfortable looking beyond mainstream lending solutions. They also discussed Aldermore’s Cascade 3.0 proposition and the changing buy-to-let market, including opportunities for landlords and brokers. Keep an eye out for it!
It’s encouraging to see continued momentum across the Network, with September being our second-largest lending month of the year! A fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the hard work our advisers are putting in.
And there’s plenty more opportunity ahead! With November, December and January 2027 expected to be particularly busy months for rate renewals, now is the perfect time to get ahead, reconnect with your clients and make the most of the opportunities coming your way.
And with 2027 just around the corner, have you started thinking about your plans for next year? Whether it’s growing your introducer relationships, generating new leads or exploring different lending areas, whichever it is, we’re here to support you.

Start the conversation about Later Life Lending
A conversation about retirement plans can open the door to a wider discussion about your clients’ borrowing needs. Understanding what they want to achieve, alongside their income, existing commitments and longer-term plans, is a useful starting point for exploring their options.
Specialist advice is essential when considering equity release, helping customers understand the costs, implications and alternatives before making a decision.
If you have a customer who could benefit from a conversation about later life lending, or you would like to understand more about the options available, please contact Kate Glover at kate.glover@therightmortgage.co.uk.

How long could your clients manage without their income?
It’s a simple question that can make a protection conversation feel much more relevant. From mortgage payments to everyday household bills, exploring what would happen if illness or injury stopped a client from working can help bring their needs into focus.
Understanding their employer’s sick pay arrangements, available savings and existing cover provides a starting point for discussing whether income protection could help address a shortfall.
Use your next client review to revisit the conversation and explore whether their protection still reflects their circumstances.

How are you generating growth in your business?
For part 3 of our adviser Q+A series, we’re asking, ‘’How do you generate growth in the business?’’
Adviser 1 – Growth comes from treating healthcare as a core part of protection, not an optional extra. I build it into every review, every fact‑find, every conversation. When clients see you as someone who understands the whole picture, income, family, health, access to care, they naturally come back and refer others. It’s about consistent conversations, not one‑off sales.
Adviser 2 – A large proportion of my business comes from existing clients, professional introducers and referrals. I also spend a lot of time building relationships on LinkedIn with HR leaders, business owners and financial advisers. Rather than trying to sell immediately, I focus on being helpful, staying visible and adding value. When renewal time comes around, people already know who I am.
Adviser 3 – Talk to people. Networking and referrals from existing clients drives growth. PMI is all annual renewing business so looking after clients means that once they are on board they tend to stick with you which takes the pressure off a little as you will not be starting future years at zero.

Help your clients get their homes ready for winter
As the nights draw in, now is a useful time to remind clients about preparing their homes for the colder months. Simple steps, such as clearing gutters and drains and checking for loose or damaged roof tiles, can help reduce the risk of weather-related damage.
It’s also an opportunity to revisit their buildings and contents insurance. Encourage clients to check their cover, understand any excesses and exclusions, and tell their insurer about changes that could affect their policy.
A timely conversation now can help clients understand both their responsibilities and the protection their policy provides.
