We’re entering protection claims season whereby the various life companies release their claims data for the previous calendar year.
One of the first to publish was AVIVA and they reported some incredible statistics.
- Aviva paid out over £1 billion in protection claims during 2020
- Over 50,000 claims were paid out
- 99.2% of all claims were paid out

Royal London have also just released their claims report for claims paid during 2020. Highlights were:
- Royal London paid out £591 million in protection claims during 2020
- 85,980 claims were paid out
- 99.6% of all claims were paid out
