ALC Health are pleased to announce some exciting product changes for 2019. The main news is that we have reduced or removed the wait periods on some of our benefits, and the biggest change is for our Prima Platinum plan.

New customers buying the Prima Platinum plan in 2019 will have no wait period at all for the ‘Well-being’ benefit. This used to have a 12 month wait period, so it became available after the first renewal. But as a result of the change, the Well-being benefit can be used by new customers with immediate effect. The Prima Platinum Well-being benefit has a value of £1,000 per year (per person), and is for Routine Health Checks, i.e. preventative medicine, rather than any tests or consultations in response to particular symptoms.

Another big change for customers choosing Prima Platinum is that they will no longer have any wait period at all when they also choose the Routine Dental benefit. This benefit has a value of £2,000 per year (per person) and there was previously a 6 month wait period before routine dental treatment became eligible for cover. Here too, the benefit can now be used with immediate effect, which means that exams can take place straight away and any newly diagnosed dental treatment will be covered (up to the applicable limits).

There is also good news for new customers who buy the Prima Premier or Prima Classic plans. These plans also include a Well-being Benefit, which used to have a wait period of 12 months. But the wait period has been reduced to 10 months, so that new members can use the Well-being benefit in their first policy year. The annual value of this benefit is up to £500 per person with Prima Premier, and up to £250 with Prima Classic.

Finally, when there is an excess on the policy, we do not apply that excess to claims for Well-being or Routine Dental.  So, new members can enjoy the full benefit values as above even if they have a policy excess.

The above changes are only for new customers, i.e. purchasing policies in 2019. Our members with existing policies will still need to meet the relevant wait periods as described in their Policy Wordings.
