For your client who are professional pilots or cabin crew, they can now take advantage of a unique medical insurance product from ALC Health

‘Flying Colours’ from ALC Health is an annual, renewable medical insurance plan designed for commercial pilots and cabin crew. It offers several of ALC Health’s regular benefit levels, namely Prima Classic, Prima Premier and Prima Platinum, with two very special advantages:

  • the policies are set up on MHD terms, for pilots and cabin crew who apply as individuals (and who can include their dependants too). This is the most flexible and generous type of underwriting, usually only available to large employee groups. The MHD terms are subject to a simple health declaration in the application form, which asks 2 simple medical questions. Most applicants will enjoy cover for costs relating to their pre-existing medical conditions as well as newly diagnosed ones.
  • ALC Health do not charge extra for the special underwriting, but are offering ‘Flying Colours’ at a deeply discounted rate compared to the price which would be paid for equivalent benefits by someone in any other occupation.

 

Potential clients for Flying Colours include:

  • freelance / contracted pilots and cabin crew, without any existing cover for medical costs
  • expatriate pilots and cabin crew
  • employees who are part of a group medical scheme, but which provides only very limited cover. The Flying Colours plan can work as a ‘top up’ in these cases.

The ALC Health plan also includes cover for medical conditions in-air or related to air travel, which is not always the case for medical insurance plans (i.e. they often have a general exclusion on aviation unless you are a ‘fare-paying passenger’). This means Flying Colours offers true ‘24/7’ cover to pilots and cabin crew (which is a very topical point in the industry given concerns over the quality of cabin air for example).
