General & Medical Healthcare are continually reviewing our products to ensure that they offer compelling solutions and great value to customers in line with the market. We have made some changes to our Private Medical Insurance products which are detailed below. These changes will display in online quotations, where applicable, from the effective date shown against each item.

Minimum GP Registration

Applicable to:

  • Private Health Insurance
  • Sports Health Insurance
  • Business Healthcare
General & Medical Healthcare’s current acceptance terms in respect of all applicants is that they must have been resident in the UK and have been registered with a NHS General Practitioner, as an NHS patient, for at least 60 continuous months immediately preceding the start date of any new application.

With immediate effect the following changes apply:

Individual & Family Private Healthcare & Individual Sports Health Insurance:
We will accept individual applicants who have been resident in the UK and registered with a NHS General Practitioner as an NHS patient for at least 24 continuous months immediately preceding the start date of any new application. A premium increase will apply for each individual applicant registered between 24 and 60 continuous months (where appropriate).

Business Healthcare:
We will accept individual applicants who have been resident in the UK and registered with a NHS General Practitioner as an NHS patient for at least 9 continuous months immediately preceding the start date of any new application. A premium increase will apply for each individual applicant registered between 9 and 60 continuous months (where appropriate).

Employee Assistance Programme

Applicable to:

  • Business Healthcare
  • Group Sports Health Insurance
With immediate effect our Employee Assistance Programme upgrade will be included in all new Business Healthcare and Group Sports Health Insurance policies at no additional cost.

For existing schemes this upgrade will be included with effect from their next renewal date.

  • All immediately affected documents are live on our website and available to download.
  • All further affected documents will be available on our website when they come into effect.
  • Please ensure that you log in to your Broker Area to view and download the new versions of our
    brochures and discard any old copies.

To do this, click on the ‘Login’ button at the top of our website homepage, and select ‘Broker Login’ from the available options, at which point you will be prompted to enter your log in details.

Once logged in, please click on ‘Download Literature’ to view and download up to date versions of our brochures and application forms.
